Day 11: Nájera rest day

  • We stayed at a privately owned albergue last night. It was essentially the same, but they loaned us th ekey to the place. It felt a little like a backwards swinger´s party, where you drop your keys in a bowl the morning after choosing a random bed.
  • The is almost the dozen´th consecutive day we´ve paced up everything and moved on -- and we still haven´t lost a single thing.
  • Hannah has has a cold for several days, and it was raining overnight so we booked into a local hotel (Hotel Can Fernando for 60€) instead of walking on today. We arrived just after 8:00am and were given immediate access to the room (yipee!), had quick showers, and slept right through until dinner time! We´d been tossing up whether to walk to San Domingo (21kms) tomorrow then see a doctor for Hannah´s ever-present cough, but we decided to assign tomorrow as a second rest day and see a local doc sooner.
  • In the hotel room we had access to TV for the first time in a few weeks. It gave us a chance to improve our grasp of the Spanish language by watching the local news. It´s just like turning on Australia´s SBS when the foreign news is on, but it´s on every channel, all the time. :)
